Some more cats

Streetmog number: 228
Streetmog name:
Actual name: Murphy
Favourite Location: Drive and under bushes
Preferred stroke:
Character: Apprehensive tick
Other: Murphy was a lovely little thing and I met his owner (who happened across this strange postman crouched down trying in vain to get the mog in question to come and say hello). We had a nice chat and I learned that Murphy was named after the wondrous Irish stout, that he was about 15 years old, and that he (nor anyone else) liked the bully white cat that lives close. I'll be on the look out for that one...

Streetmog number: 229
Streetmog name: Marmite
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Path
Preferred stroke:
Character: Tease
Other: Marmite kept approaching me, and with that was luring me into a false hope of feline fussing. However, each time she got close, and I crouched for some aforementioned interaction, she turned paw and wandered away. Cheeky, cheeky tortie!

Streetmog number: 230
Streetmog name: Babar
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Path
Preferred stroke: Chin tickle
Character: Affectionate uber purrer
Other: Babar is not an elephant nor was she grey but quite frankly I am struggling in the name creation creativity department. She was a very sweet kitty though, showing few inhibitions with a smashing display of path rolling and tummy exposing.

Friday feline fillip

Three and a half more streetmogs bring this catablog up to date. Read on:

Streetmog number: 225
Streetmog name: Winston
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Path
Preferred stroke: Back rub
Character: Nonchalant
Other: Winston was a decent old moggy - stout, friendly and affectionate - but black, and I have to admit I'm running out of things to write about your standard short haired black cat. This one liked nothing more than a decent leg weave and was a very nice pushtie indeed.

Streetmog number: 226
Streetmog name: Pepsi
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Foliage
Preferred stroke:
Character: Skit
Other: Pepsi was extremely wary of me and this is as close as I got, despite my attempts to win her trust.

Streetmog number: 227
Streetmog name: Pinot
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Under car
Preferred stroke:
Character: Nervy puss
Other: I was led to Pinot by one of the other cats and I realised they both resided at the same property. Judging by the amount of cat bowls outside, there were more mogs around. Perhaps another day, although this is not an area I've been to before so I might never return. Anyways, Pinot was not impressed with my stealth approach to grab this shot, and she moved off a few seconds after this. A shame, as it would have been nice to administer some love and affection to this adorable kitty.

This is my safe, happy place. Go away.

I've come to realise, during the process of compiling this blog, that cats with an oriental background tend to be slightly off the hook, in a good way. Each one I meet is vociferous, affectionate, energetic, demanding and not a little bit crazy. This one was no exception, almost racing down the path to greet me, miaowing all the while. He knew what he wanted, and he got it. One plank short of a fence, perhaps, but an absolute beaut and an absolute hoot.

After writing this spiel, I realised that this mog and was actually and old acquaintance, SmokeyNice to meet you again, nut-face!

Yesssss, jut like that Mr postie

Kitteh katch up

Despite the lack of regular blogging, I have steadily been going about my unofficial business of mog collecting and have found another eight terrific felines for our enjoyment. I'm slightly pooped tonight though so will only list half of them for now. Like buses, or bills, they all seem to come along at once; yesterday, in a new area in SW20, I spotted five on one street. Despite its proximity to the rumbling A3, it was pure catopia!

Streetmog number: 221
Streetmog name: George
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Door step, wanting in
Preferred stroke: Head scrunch
Character: Bemused
Other: George is rather princely in his appearance so this predictable copy cat name sits well with him. He was a funny old bean, seemingly perplexed at my willingness to play yet inability to let him in. I met this lovely, shiny and solid tabby on what has become the most pussy-prolific of streets near Wimbledon Park.

Streetmog number: 222
Streetmog name: Buttercup
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Various residences
Preferred stroke:
Character: Scaredy-kit
Other: This dainty little gingie-white gave me the runaround for a few minutes, moving from door to door through garden after garden, but never letting me get close for some fussing. She eventually stopped at what I presumed to be her house, but vanished under a car. She was a very sweet little thing.

Streetmog number: 223
Streetmog name: Horatio
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Front lawn
Preferred stroke: Head tickle
Character: Bestie
Other: Horatio was a confident and most affectionate old chap. I loved his portly appearance and swagger as he strolled over to say hello, miaowing all the while. Some good fussing was had by all. What a delightful puss.

Streetmog number: 224
Streetmog name: Chris Froome
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Path, pavement, legs & lap
Preferred stroke: All of it
Character: NUTS
Other: Man oh man I LOVED this cat. As soon as I turned into the garden path, he made a beeline for me and demanded my attention, which he duly received. He would not keep still with his constant leg weaving, head butting and body flopping/rolling. All the while he let out the most endearing (and loud) miaow and, once I decided to move on, proceeded to follow me down the street for more cuddle action. He got more, of course. So much energy, such a champion...

Don't judge me!

Blog history is being made with this post, as the terrific puss featured below was not spotted by your friendly postman cat, but by a streetmogs follower from SW19. Seeing as the mog action is rather slow at the moment, and having been tweeted a photo of this beauty, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to invite a guest submission. It can't break any rules, as there are none...

Streetmog number: 220
Streetmog name: Bagheera
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Under car
Preferred stroke: Belly tickle
Character: Skulker becomes milker (of attention)
Other: This beautiful Bengal was initially sat skulking under a car, taking a breather from the oppressive heat of the day. With a few select mog-attracting noises from our guest cat lover, she came out to say hello, performed a graceful dust roll by the curb and then proceeded to gently chew fingers and accept tummy tickles. What a stunner. Thanks to Sophie for supplying the pics and cat bio!

Triple black

Another mini streetmog hiatus comes to a close. I've been pretty remiss in both stopping to capture mogs on the plod and in the blogging itself. Life's been too busy and it's simply too hot...but I'm not complaining, not after the run of crap weather we'd had here in Blighty. It's positively steaming here right now at 31.c, definitely too hot for our furry feline friends who I imagine will be under shady bushes or indoors 'pon cool floors. Anyway, the relatively unimportant business (let's be honest here) of mog blogging has taken a back seat, until today. Here are three black cats, and that's your lot:

Streetmog number: 217
Streetmog name: Murray
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Driveway
Preferred stroke: Bonce tickle
Character: Chillaxed
Other: Okay, he doesn't remotely resemble the Scottish one but I think it would be a big ask to find a cat who does. So, as the first streetmog since Andy Murray's Wimbledon victory last Sunday, this black chap shall get the honours of being named after the new champion. As for the cat and its antics, it just sat there and came to say hello when I approached. I've seen him before and he's always being petted by passers-by. He's a nice cat.

Advantage Morrisons.

Streetmog number: 218
Streetmog name: Bartoli
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Centre pavement (centre court?)
Preferred stroke:
Character: Scaredy-cat
Other: It would be remiss of me to name one mog after the male champion and overlook the female winner. I hadn't forgotten Virginia Wade, either, so don't start. Bartoli was a slight tease, beckoning me closer with an innocent gaze and gait, but then trotting off when I got close. I didn't try too hard - too hot, etc. etc. etc.

Streetmog number: 219
Streetmog name: Tilly
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Wall and pillar
Preferred stroke: All of it
Character: Loving drooler
Other: Tilly (belatedly named on request, after a blog follower's cat) was the most adorable concrete-pummeling pussy. She couldn't keep still and, together with her pacing, pawing, head butting and weaving, she dribbled like a babba. She was enjoying the warm afternoon sun and was, clearly, partial to some petting. A lovely thing, Tilly was.

Two torties

It's been fairly quiet on the streetmog front of late but here are a couple of friendly tortoiseshells to keep the cat counter ticking over:

Streetmog number: 215
Streetmog name: Tortellini
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Driveway
Preferred stroke: Chin scrunch
Character: Restless
Other: Tortellini was all over the place. She didn't seem to know what she wanted, or whether she was pleased to see me or not. After a bit of fussing, it was clear that all she wanted was to be let in. Sorry, mog.

Streetmog number: 216
Streetmog name: Tortilla
Actual name:
Favourite Location: Street wall
Preferred stroke: Head tickle
Character: Floozy
Other: Tortilla saw me from atop her wall, quickly walked over to where I was and proceeded to flaunt her good looks and demand attention - which she duly received. She was in kitty heaven on that wall, and so relaxed that at one point I was worried that she might fall off.

I also ran into a couple of old friends, Persia (one of the very first streetmogs) and Necktie:

Persia sunning it up
Necktie remains a timid little thing
